Editors, an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 2002, consists of members Tom Smith, Russell Leetch, Ed Lay, Justin Lockey, Elliott Williams, and Benjamin John Power. Originally known as Pilot, The Pride, and Snowfield, the band has released seven albums in total, two of which have gone platinum. Their debut album, The Back Room, was released in 2005, featuring hit singles "Munich" and "Blood", and received a Mercury Prize nomination the following year. Their second album, An End Has a Start, climbed to number 1 on the UK Album Chart in June 2007 and earned a Brit Awards nomination for Best British Band. Editors have achieved critical acclaim and consistent success in the UK Singles Chart, enjoying sold-out tours and numerous headlining festival slots. Their dark indie rock sound is often compared to bands such as Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, Interpol, The Chameleons, and U2.
