Pale Waves, a rock band hailing from Manchester, England, was established in 2014. Originally known as Creek, the group was formed when lead vocalist and guitarist Heather Baron-Gracie met drummer Ciara Doran at university in Manchester. The team was later completed with the addition of guitarist Hugo Silvani and bassist Charlie Wood. Their early music is often characterized as synth-pop or indie rock influenced by the 80s, but their second and third albums leaned more towards pop-punk. In 2017, Pale Waves inked a record deal with Dirty Hit and unveiled their first single, "There's a Honey", soon followed by "Television Romance". The following year, they secured fifth place in the BBC Sound of 2018 poll and clinched the NME Under the Radar Award at the NME Awards. The band's debut EP, All the Things I Never Said, came out in February 2018, and their first full-length studio album, My Mind Makes Noises, was launched on 14 September 2018. Their sophomore album, Who Am I?, was released on 12 February 2021 and reached number three on the UK Albums Chart, as well as topping the UK Independent Albums Chart. Their third album, Unwanted, was released on 12 August 2022.
