Interpol, an American rock band hailing from Manhattan, New York, was formed in 1997 with the original lineup consisting of Paul Banks (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Daniel Kessler (lead guitar, backing vocals), Carlos Dengler (bass guitar, keyboards), and Greg Drudy (drums). However, Drudy left the band in 2000 and was replaced by Sam Fogarino, while Dengler departed in 2010, leading Banks to take on the additional role of bassist. Interpol emerged from the New York indie music scene and the post-punk revival of the 2000s, having shared the stage with notable peers such as the Strokes, Longwave, the National, and Stellastarr. Their distinctive sound combines staccato bass, rhythmic harmonized guitars, and snare-heavy mixes, drawing comparisons to bands like Joy Division, Television, The Chameleons, Echo & the Bunnymen, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. With each member contributing to composition, Interpol's debut album "Turn On the Bright Lights" (2002) received critical acclaim, followed by successful releases like "Antics" (2004) and "Our Love to Admire" (2007). After a hiatus, they returned with the self-titled fourth album (2010), and subsequent albums "El Pintor" (2014), "Marauder" (2018), and "The Other Side of Make-Believe" (2022).
