Dabke is a Levantine Arab folk dance popular in countries such as Syria, Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon. This traditional dance is performed at various occasions, but it is most commonly associated with weddings and other joyous events. Dabke combines elements of circle dance and line dancing, and it involves a long chain of dancers performing synchronized steps, stomps, jumps, and kicks. The name "Dabke" is derived from the Levantine Arabic word "dabaka" (دبكة), which can be roughly translated to "stamping of the feet". This name aptly describes the essence of the dance, which is characterized by rhythmic foot stamping performed in lines or circles.
