Bastille is a British pop rock ensemble established in 2010. What initially started as a solo undertaking by the lead singer, Dan Smith, soon grew to incorporate Kyle Simmons on keyboards, Will Farquarson on bass and guitar, and drummer Chris "Woody" Wood. Having begun their journey with an independently released debut single followed by a self-released EP, the band eventually inked a deal with Virgin Records. In March 2013, they released their inaugural studio album, "Bad Blood", which topped the UK Albums Chart and spawned the hit single "Pompeii" that reached the second spot on the UK Singles Chart. The 2014 Brit Awards saw Bastille nominated in four categories, with them bagging the British Breakthrough Act. As of August 2021, Bastille's global record sales have surpassed eleven million.
