Aaron Phillip (aka Afu-Ra) is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York. He is known for his unique style of rapping, which combines elements of underground hip-hop, reggae, and dancehall. He began his career in the early 1990s, and made his debut in 1994 with the single "Whirlwind Thru Cities" with the group Gang Starr. In 2000, Afu-Ra released his debut solo album "Body of the Life Force" which was critically acclaimed and commercially successful. The album featured production from DJ Premier, and guest appearances from artists such as Wu-Tang Clan's RZA, and Jeru the Damaja. The album featured the hit single "Whirlwind Thru Cities" which was well-received by the hip-hop community.
